Placing high-tech GPS gizmos ON TOP of the newly renovated summit triangulation pillar raises the height of the Ben by one metre. Funny that. A difference in figures since the last survey 60 years ago has resulted in a difference (in the survey results) of approx 2.7cm which has “tipped” the height 2.7cm nearer to 1345m than 1344m, hence the Ordnance Survey have “rounded up” the height of the Ben.
