So after several months of training walks, nerves, kit faffing, fund raising, and cake making … the big hearted and strong legged walking superheroes from #EastCheshireNHSTrust met at Teggs Nose at 6am yesterday to start their 26 mile fundraising walk. #ECHO and #CombatStress were the beneficiaries.
And then it rained.
And then it rained some more.
And they looked the weather in the eye and said ‘whatever’.
Averaging more than 2.5 mph the sodden, spirited superheroes walked up hill, down valley, and across vale.
Did i mention the rain ?
At the ten mile mark i knew this was ‘on’. At the 20 mile stage, sodden and shattered they stopped at Mow Cop for brownies, and dry clothes, and banter and photos. Then they smashed it.
Ruth Marston joined all the dots of this endeavour, and all the training and fundraising, and epitomises the ‘extra mile’ that our #NHS go on a daily basis. The Trust is lucky to have her.
Bowled over by the ‘just do it’ grit that they all showed on the Gritstone Trail yesterday, and privileged to have been able to lead the team on their training and challenge.
Well done 👏👏👏👏👏
