The Rivelin Valley from Bell Hagg in Sheffield.
The Rivelin is a significant thoroughfare for water, wildlife, and humans in to Sheffield from the moorland of the Peak District National Park to the West.
Evidence of human exploitation of the land and water can be traced back to Roman times. Tablets (not the modern type !!) granting land to retiring Roman Auxiliaries of the Sunici tribe were found in 1761 near Stannington.
