Championships Day at Longshaw Sheepdog Trials. Oh and fell race day too.
Fair play to Liz @moorland_meat for feeding the what felt like 5000, including Archie who had his first go at black pudding. Lovely weather for most of it but the clag came in and made shepherding hard for the last few competitors.
I sort of helped out at the pens but tbh i was probably more of a hinderance asking dumb questions and forgetting the championship route round the field.
I did observe at the end that most of the occupants of the VIP tent stayed hidden out the weather, most of the paying audience had left, and a few shepherds in their Kaiwaka ‘big coats’ huddled together in a circle for the prizes and a pint in the rain before heading back to their farms
I had a random chat with a shepherd from Sweden who was surprised to find someone in a field in Derbyshire dressed head to toe in @lundhags – ‘twas the weather for it by the end !!
