Not every day you try to hand feed pheasant breast to a female kestrel ….. i’ve names her Kassandra … she was brought in to @eastern_moors yesterday evening after apparently having been hit by a car in the Hope Valley.
We were advised to try and get her to eat and drink. I got some pheasant from a local game dealer and we tried her on that but to no avail.
She was driven to the care of the vet in Bakewell 🤞🤞🤞.
PS please don’t bring injured pets, wildlife or livestock to Barbrook Cottage ((regardless of what Google tells you)) as the staff and volunteers there are neither trained nor equipped to look after them 👍).
Update – 24hrs later, she’s confirmed as having a head injury … had eaten the bits of pheasant breast …. and is being kept in by the vet 🤞
Update – i found out on 10 Dec that the kestrel didn’t survive its head injury.
