Another day and another article on the soaring (pardon the pun) rise in wildfire events in the UK

Another day and another article that categorically fails to mention the main cause of wildfires.
*The NFCC Operational Guidance definition of a wildfire is that it involves a geographical area of at least one hectare (10,000 sq m)
Dear reader it really, really, really isn’t disposable bbq’s, cigarette ends or broken bottles causing the vast majority of wildfires in the UK. Absolutely not.
The very database that confirms that wildfire totals for 2025 are already 600 times greater than 2024 also clearly articulates the principle cause.
But nobody mentions it.
For the Peak District the great unmentionable is responsible for over 60% of the wildfires.
So where is the really-not-very-hard-to-investigate investigative journalism on the causes ???
Or literally just publish a table of causes and let the reader decide.
Or is the ‘fire’ that that would cause considered by those in ‘power’ to be more trouble than just maintaining the ridiculous silence.
….. anyway, i’m off to a fire in the Sheffield green belt …
