Not sure how Instagram found me @patsyshipley81 ‘s feed and from there the account of the @gbrsgroup gang and others. However, via those accounts i saw mention of this psychedelic treatment that members of the US SOF community had participated in as therapy for trauma. I thought it was a pile of bollocks.
I’ve also spent 34 years thinking ‘Chariots of Fire’ was the most impactful thing i’d ever watched on a screen.
Not any more. Not in the least bit embarassed to say i cried and wailed like a really really loud crying and wailing thing watching In Waves and War
The film is a deeply deeply profound experience. One can only imagine what the treatment feels like. Perhaps there is a way that the serving and veteran community here in the UK can get round the @netflixuk fee ? This film has the potential to save lives.
It’s not lost on me that here in the UK we fill the sky with fireworks and explosions tonight (to ‘celebrate’ Guy Fawkes). Some serving and veteran men and women will be curled up in their homes, cars, or safe places a crying pissing shitting mess hiding from the places, faces, experiences, smells, injuries and loss that those sights and sounds trigger.
A doff of the cap to everyone both behind and in front of the camera in the film. Utterly extraordinary. 🙏.
