The National Park policy is that ‘there is currently no provision for having a BBQ anywhere in the open countryside of the Peak District’.
Your colleagues in @derbyshirefrs are screaming for people to stop using BBQs in open countryside.
The @peakdistrictnt banners metres away from some of your signs state ‘no fires or barbecues’.
The @teambmc and @bmc_peak stance (National body for walkers and climbers) is ‘no barbecues or fires’.
Your own National Fire Chiefs Council has just launched a wildfire reduction campaign in light of a 717% rise in wildfires since 2024.
The @eastern_moors_partnership staff and volunteer rangers are putting multiple fires and barbecues out every week in the very places that you’re posting these signs (look through my feed).
PLEASE remove the ambiguity and remove the signs, get on board with the zero tolerance narrative and replace them with ‘No Fires or Barbecues’ in open countryside.
