Wonderful Sunday morning with the Sheaf & Porter Rivers Trust exploring the Sheffield city centre underworld.
A highly recommended few hours of wet agility training for humans 😉 with knowledgeable guides from the Trust.
Off under platform 5 of the railway station and then onwards towards The Megatron and the works to expose the waterway at Sheaf Fields Park.

We found crucibles, parts of sharpening wheels, a tool thingy, an (invasive species) American crayfish, a sort of cork or bottle lid marked ‘Gilmours Sheffield 1911’ and an oyster shell. Apparently in days of yore oysters were cheap street food and they would be consumed and their shells thrown in the street.

Big hopes that those organisations profiting from developing the city centre allow the Porter and Sheaf to be further opened back up and accessible to nature and humans.
10/10 way to spend a Sunday morning.
Tickets are £25pp. You have to be over 16yo and reasonably fit and flexible and obviously okay in water and tunnels.
More info and booking here. Membership of the S&PRT costs £10 for life – details via the same link.
