OS Maps ‘Community Alerts’

(If not already seen) a heads up about the ‘community alerts’ update to OS Maps on the latest app release …. in essence it allows people to report (what they think are) hazards, dangers or access issues whilst outdoors and if you are at / near that location at that time (and using OS maps) you’re notified in app by icons appearing on your OS app screen !!

It also asks the ‘community’ to provide detail and then also verify the existence / removal of the hazard.

Ones seen so far include ‘fallen tree’ ‘very muddy’ and ‘hazard of getting your feet wet’.

To turn the service off you need to have it in the first place – via the latest app update

Then click on the map type icon (see below)

Then scroll down to the ‘show obstacles and hazards’ toggle for on or off (see image below)
